An interior architecture practice working in stone, lime, teak and shadow — between a Mumbai mill floor and a Goan workshop. Every room is drawn at full size before it is drawn at 1:100.

Position — six registeredWorking rules, revised in public

A room is an argument about light, made in material.

We are not interested in style, and we are suspicious of the word. What we have instead is a set of positions we return to on every project — six of them, arrived at slowly and revised in public. They are working rules, not beliefs.

01

Materiality

A material should be doing something.

02

Light

Daylight first, and then almost nothing.

03

Proportion

Dimensions should come from somewhere.

Materials

Black when honed, grey when flamed, and almost blue after a wash. We use it where water will sit: thresholds, counters, the bottom of a stair.

Two people working over drawings at a studio table
[ plate 019 — sample racks, Byculla ]

Eleven people, two coasts, one drawing board.

We work on interiors, buildings, hospitality and objects, and we do not separate those categories internally — the same people draw a stair detail and a vessel rim in the same week. The practice stays deliberately small so that every project passes through the same hands from survey to snagging.

Let’s make a place worth remembering.

We take on four or five projects a year and read every enquiry ourselves.
